Ordering kinetics in the active model B

چکیده
We undertake a detailed numerical study of the {\it Active Model B} proposed by Wittkowski et al. [Nature Comm. {\bf 5}, 4351 (2014)]. find that introduction activity has drastic effect on ordering kinetics. First, domain growth law shows crossover from usual Lifshitz-Slyozov for phase separation ($L \sim t^{1/3}$, where $t$ is time) to novel t^{1/4}$) at late times. Second, correlation function exhibits dynamical scaling given strength $\lambda$, but depends $\lambda$.

Theory of Phase Ordering Kinetics
The theory of phase ordering dynamics – the growth of order through domain coarsening when a system is quenched from the homogeneous phase into a brokensymmetry phase – is reviewed, with the emphasis on recent developments. Interest will focus on the scaling regime that develops at long times after the quench. How can one determine the growth laws that describe the time-dependence of characteri...
متن کاملPhase ordering kinetics of the Bose gas.
We study the approach to equilibrium of a Bose gas to a superfluid state. We point out that dynamic scaling, characteristic of far from equilibrium phase-ordering systems, should hold. We stress the importance of a nondissipative Josephson precession term in driving the system to a new universality class. A model of coarsening in dimension d52, involving a quench between two temperatures below ...
متن کاملPhase-ordering kinetics on graphs.
We study numerically the phase-ordering kinetics following a temperature quench of the Ising model with single spin-flip dynamics on a class of graphs, including geometrical fractals and random fractals, such as the percolation cluster. For each structure we discuss the scaling properties and compute the dynamical exponents. We show that the exponent a_{chi} for the integrated response function...
متن کاملMultiscaling to standard-scaling crossover in the Bray-Humayun model for phase-ordering kinetics.
The Bray-Humayun model for phase ordering dynamics is solved numerically in one and two space dimensions with conserved and non conserved order parameter. The scaling properties are analysed in detail finding the crossover from multiscaling to standard scaling in the conserved case. Both in the nonconserved case and in the conserved case when standard scaling holds the novel feature of an expon...
